Why do some trucking companies have their own license plates?

Primarily Illinois plates, but I’ve seen Virginia do it too. They have their own design with the company logo and/or name on it, and it’s weird.

I have not seen that, but I reckon as an Illinois resident, I will see like 18 of them in the next two days.

I’ve seen Indiana plates specifically for UPS and FedEx, FWIW.

VA has a ridiculous number of custom plates. If a group wants to design one and submit it for approval and give the state even more cash the Commonwealth is generally willing to take your extra money so you can have the plate design.
